CDT Code D6080: Implant Maintenance Billing Guidelines
Updated 12/2025
Dental coding can be complex, making dental billing a difficult process. Here are some tips on how to properly bill CDT code D6080.
What Is CDT Code D6080?
According to the ADA, D6080 is used to report “implant maintenance procedures when a full arch fixed hybrid prosthesis is removed and reinserted, including cleansing of prosthesis and abutments.”
How Do I Bill Implant Maintenance Procedures for All-on-X?
D6080 is reported per arch and can only be billed when the prostheses are removed, cleaned, and reinserted. D6080 includes active debriding of the implant(s) and examination of all aspects of the implant system, including the occlusion and stability of the superstructure. It also includes instructions for thorough daily cleansing of the implant(s). You may also report the replacement of any non-retentive implant screws (D6193) and the replacement of restorative material to close the access holes (D6197).
When D6080 Does Not Apply
If you are cleaning around the implant but not removing the prosthesis, the proper code to report would be D6180, which was added to the CDT code set in 2025.
